Breaking News : Universe back in alignment

The laws governing the alignment of the planet and the universe – at least in a sporting sense – were realigned last weekend after three key rugby matches were decided in the favour of the good and honourable.

Yours truly was at a stag night on Saturday evening but just managed to make out on the blurry television at the pub that Dirty Filthy Cheating Canterbury were soundly beaten by the Mighty Bay of Plenty.  Having spent a few hazy New Years’ at Mt Maunganui I have always felt that the Bay are my second team so I raised my pint high in the air in a salute before falling over gracefully on exiting the bar.

No full match report possible due to your reporters state during the game and not required as the result says all it needs to.

By the time the Party Bus made it to town it was left to the bouncers somewhere on the Viaduct to report the score of The ‘Bukkks v ‘Straaalya test match.  High fives and those cool hand shake type things that only big bouncers seem to know how to do ensued and we celebrated for a good five minutes before I stepped past them to get into the pub… “Sorry mate – too drunk”

Awaking just before the kick off of the Mighty Mighty Auckland game against Otago on Sunday afternoon, I am pleased to report that I did manage to actually see this one.  M.M.A have turned the corner this season and are on track to take the Championship as suggested in earlier postings to this site.  Dirty Filthy Cheating Otago made a last minute attempt to clinch the game but even the backing of thousands of traitorous displaced Auckland-born students on the terrace couldn’t help them as M.M.A again climbed up the standings.

It’s a cracker of a weekend coming up too…

M.M.A need Otago to get up over D.F.C. Canterbury in the Ranfurly Shield challenge so The Log can be back in Auckland by the end of the year.  Having once done a rally in Dunedin, I have always felt like Otago are my second team and fully expect them to get there unders.  Put the house on it…

…and put the kids trust funds on Mighty Mighty Auckland beating the Palmy Army by thirty or more as they continue to fulfil their destiny.  Take the multi on this game and the Mighty Mighty All Blacks to just barely smash the ‘Bukks at Dairy Farmers Stadium on Saturday night.
