The Sporting Weekend Ahead

The game of the round is clearly the match up between M.M.A and Dirty Filthy Cheating Peoples Republic of Canterbury at the Garden of Eden.  D.F.C.P.R. Canterbury are coming off a thrashing at the hands of Haaarrr…Booouuurrr whilst M.M.A were unlucky to go down to the ‘Pies in a closely fought match last Saturday.  M.M.A are boosted by the return of John Afoa and I am too, we will now have five players that I am vaguely familiar with.  The Otahuhu Nugget would have been fronting up but Tony Woodcock accidentally ripped Mealamu’s chest muscle off the bone.  I can feel Kev’s pain as I once ripped my ab off whatever it used to be connected to and now suffer from a condition often mislabelled as beer gut as a result.  If I was a betting man (and I used to be before last Saturday), I’d be putting the house on M.M.A.

In other games of note, The Lions will be away at Ian Smith Stadium in Napier taking on a very promising ‘Pies squad.  The Shield will not be on the line (they’re saving that for M.M.A.) so I’m picking the ‘Pies unders in this one.  NOWETO will play host to two matches this weekend with Harbour at home to Tasman and Northland at home (?) to The ‘Naki.  Look for a ‘Naki win unders tonight and expect a McAllister infused Harbour line up to smash the Northern Southerners and finish the weekend two from two.

The battle of State Highway 90B is going to be a tight one with Otago coming off a failed (but good looking) loss to The Lions last week and the Suede Eaters coming off a successful (but awful) victory over the Cow Milkers.  Highlanders selectors will be watching this one closely as performances in this game will have a huge influence on selections for the worst Super 15 team next season.

In the remaining matches The Mooloos will smash The Palmy Army at Dairy Farmers Stadium and Counties will utilise their ‘Rewa Hard players to full effect in beating The Steamers.  The result of the latter match will have no consequence as both are going to Division Two next season.

The Tri-Nations match up this weekend sees a brilliantly coached bunch of awful players taking on an awfully coached bunch of brilliant players.  The M.M.A.Bs need the Dirty Filthy ‘Straaalyns to get up in this one but I suspect the D.F.C. ‘Bukkks will overcome their opposition and win in spite of their coach.  The only certainty in this match up is that where will be plenty of dirty, filthy cheating.

The Warriors will not be as good at hitting the ball up five times then kicking as the Titans will.

The public (all 1 1/2 ) have spoken and the objective, reasoned commentary is back.I wonder if the referendum will have the same result..bring back the biff.Although I have to challenge the writer to a contest,in 15th Grade football(yes the world game).Central is playing Manurewa at Memorial Park at 11am.Now I am sure most of The Rewa team will be hard, and the only thing most of the Central Team know about rewa, is Rainbows End is near there.Their parents don't let their young daughters head there.Central coming 2nd in the comp and I hear brilliantly coached, are looking for championship glory. So this reader challenges the writer to meet on the day to watch the contest, before retiring to savour the Blue and White victory in the evening.
