The Mighty Mighty All Blacks (MMABs) suffered an early setback in their international campaign going down narrowly to the dirty filthy froggies at the House of Shame in Dunedin on Saturday night.

The 22-27 final scoreline was probably flattering to the MMABs who failed on numerous occasions to hold on to their own ball in rucks (bring back Ritchie) or win their own lineout ball (bring back Ali). It was the scrums however that were the MMABs biggest failing - where they were dominated in a manner not seen in this country since the Plumley Walker case.

The return of the Prodigal Son Luke McAlister was marred by a Carlosesque errant intercept pass that handed the Frenchies the match - Maxime Medart taking up the kind offer and dotting down to put the game beyond doubt.

The All Whites (dressed in All Black) gave the Italians a bit of a scare, losing 4-3 in South Africa in front of a crowd whose numbers would have been a disappointment at a NZ domestic 4 day cricket game. They followed this up by getting destroyed by Spain in the first Confederations Cup match. Fortunately the Spaniards invoked the 5 goal mercy rule and spent the second half running training drills whilst the Kiwi defence chased them.

The Warriors defeated Newcastle in what surely was one of the most boring pieces of televised “entertainment” since the last time Jeremy Corbett was on TV.

The English cricket team was defeated by The Netherlands in the opening game of the Twenty20 World Cup. This was made even more embarrassing by the admission of the Dutch team manager that no less than 6 of his squad had actually visited Holland before and 3 of them could count to ten in Dutch.

Dan Carter has signed for Canterbury in the NPC ending months of speculation that he may end up in Auckland. As one of the three known Mighty Mighty Auckland supporters in the country, this has saved me hundreds of hours of stress and thousands of dollars in psychiatrists fees deciding whether I could actually bring myself to support MMA if he was in the squad.

The management does not necessarily support the opinions of the writer, and most especially, the webmaster is not one of the three known Auckland supporters!
