A little prayer
Forgive me God of Sports for I have sinned… It has been several weeks since my last entry…
God of Sports please look down on your child Daniel Vettori as he leads your followers into the final battle against the Dirty Filthy Cheating Australians tonight. We ask that your almighty power surges through the veins of the few Mighty Mighty BlackCaps still not on the injured list and that they will overcome the powers of evil led by the dastardly Ricky Ponting. We seek forgiveness for selecting Jacob Oram and ask that just this once the M.M.B.C’s come up with some silverware. We also thank you for allowing Grant Elliot to see the light and become the only kind of acceptable South African – one with a New Zealand passport.
We also thank you for finally allowing Mighty Mighty Auckland a victory after a few weeks of suffering at the hands of Canterbury B and North Harbour. We thank you for the format of the Air New Zealand Cup as we are reminded that no matter how far Dirty Filthy Canterbury get in front they are only a semi-final loss away from oblivion. We give praise that M.M.A only have The ‘Naki, Counties-Manukau and Waikato left to play and are therefore guaranteed 15 points and will be the team that destroys D.F.C. Canterbury’s aspirations.
We ask that you look after your follower Shane Cameron (the big guy that thought he was a boxer) as he recovers from his injuries received courtesy of the right hand (then 2 lefts, another right and finally several combinations of lefts and rights) of David Tua and those of us who had a few bucks on the fight seek answers as to why the that imbecilic referee didn’t stop it in the first round. We are forever grateful to be positioned at the right hand of the father rather than the right hand of David Tua.
We ask this in your name – Graham Henry
Amen

Said:
My God, my god - why hast thou foresaken me?
